Description

A large circular tray of Persian origin, crafted from a copper alloy and attributable to the Qajar period. The surface is profusely hand-engraved with intricate decorations organized into concentric bands. The central medallion depicts a courtly or religious assembly, encircled by a series of small circular vignettes containing various animals, including birds and gazelles. The widest band features complex narrative scenes populated by human figures in traditional dress, equestrian figures, and architectural elements. The outermost raised rim is finished with a repeated floral and scrolling border. The front of the tray displays a golden-brown tone with areas of iridescent oxidation. The reverse shows a dark, aged patina.
