Description
This Persian brass tray, dating to the Qajar dynasty, features a circular form with an eight-lobed scalloped rim. The central field is decorated with an intricately engraved battle scene depicting numerous figures on horseback and camels engaged in combat with various weaponry. A small circular cartouche containing Perso-Arabic script is positioned near the central mounted figure, serving as a maker’s mark or signature. The central composition is framed by multiple concentric borders of fine floral and vegetal arabesque scrollwork. The tray is constructed of brass with hand-engraved ornamentation.
