Description
A 19th Century Tekke Turkmen silver and carnelian belt featuring a large central lobed medallion flanked by rectangular metal plates. The silver metal components are mounted on a green and purple striped silk textile backing. The metalwork is embellished with parcel-gilt foliate and scrollwork motifs and is inset with numerous oval carnelian stones. Small turquoise-colored beads provide additional accents to the central medallion. A series of articulated metal pendants hang from the lower edge of the belt, each featuring red insets and terminating in small circular stamped discs. The construction includes a metal buckle at one end for fastening.
