Description
This Islamic illuminated manuscript is an Ottoman prayer book or Quranic selection, likely dating to the 19th century. The volume is bound in dark brown tooled leather featuring a central floral medallion and stamped borders. The interior consists of paper leaves with text hand-written in black ink using a formal Naskh script. Decoration includes gold-leaf verse markers and polychrome illuminations with stylized floral and geometric motifs in shades of orange, purple, and gold. The endpapers contain informal handwritten notes in Ottoman Turkish, including text referencing the 1200s AH.
