Description
A rare Timurid engraved jade pendant, 14th – 15th century, Persia. This double-sided decorative medallion is crafted from a dark, matte-finished jade. The circular object features a prominent scalloped and lobed perimeter with small, regularly spaced circular piercings. Both faces are intricately carved with symmetrical floral and foliate motifs contained within scrolling cartouches. One side displays a vertical, mandorla-shaped central floral arrangement, while the reverse features a horizontal band of three flower heads.
