Description
The object consists of a large circular disc with a scalloped perimeter, surmounted by an intricate openwork foliate pediment that incorporates a suspension loop. The obverse surface is decorated with chased and engraved motifs. At the center is a four-by-four magic square, known as a wafq, containing Arabic numerals or characters. This central element is encircled by concentric bands featuring flowing Arabic calligraphy and floral scrollwork, all set against a stippled ground. The reverse of the pendant is primarily plain with a visible hammered texture. A vertical reinforcing bar extends from the suspension loop down the upper portion of the back.
