Lot 255:
Description
An Islamic mold-blown glass molar flask, likely dating to the Fatimid period, circa 9th to 11th century. The vessel is composed of translucent, colorless to light-amber glass. The form consists of a central cylindrical neck surmounting a body with four vertical, wing-like projections at the base, a shape traditionally referred to as a molar flask. The surface exhibits heavy weathering, pitting, and a sugary texture consistent with long-term burial. Earthen encrustation is present within the recesses of the molded form.
