Description
A medieval Islamic copper alloy pilgrim flask or ampulla. The vessel features a flattened shield-shaped body characterized by five small fin-like projections and a cylindrical neck fitted with a single suspension loop. Both faces are decorated with recessed panels containing silver-inlaid foliated and interlaced geometric motifs, including stylized arabesque patterns. The neck is encircled by additional silver-inlaid decorative bands featuring calligraphic script. The piece is constructed from a cast copper alloy base with recessed areas for the application of silver wire or sheet inlay.
