Description
A KASHAN TURQUOISE-GLAZED FRITWARE CERAMIC DASTABAND DANCE EWER, PERSIA, 12TH CENTURY OR LATER
A Kashan turquoise-glazed fritware ewer, featuring a molded relief frieze depicting a continuous procession of human figures engaged in a Dastaband dance. The vessel is constructed with a cylindrical body and a flattened shoulder decorated with radial fluting. A distinctive bird-headed spout extends from the neck, which is connected to the shoulder by a single arched handle. The piece is finished in a turquoise alkaline glaze over a light-colored fritware body. The base is unglazed and flat, showing the natural color of the ceramic material.
