Lot 241:
Description
This textile fragment, originating from Late Antique Egypt, features a square tapestry-woven panel integrated into a tan-colored ground fabric. The ground material is characterized by a looped or shaggy pile construction, likely composed of wool or linen. The central decorative component consists of a dark brown square enclosing a circular medallion. This medallion contains a symmetrical, stylized vegetal motif rendered in a cream tone, depicting stylized leaves or vessels radiating from a central diamond-shaped element. The weaving technique demonstrates the transition between the ground pile and the flat-woven decorative insert.
