Description
A TRIBAL GEOMETRIC KILIM TEXTILE FRAGMENT WITH ISLAMIC INSCRIPTION, 19TH – 20TH CENTURY
This framed rectangular textile fragment features three horizontal registers of embroidery executed on a beige-toned woven ground. The upper and lower registers display repeating stylized characters rendered in dark thread, flanked by red and grey embroidered triangles. A central double-row register contains small, repeating red and cream motifs. The piece is housed in a simple, dark-finished wood frame under glass. The motifs and construction are consistent with tribal geometric kilim and sumak textile traditions.
