Description
This Indian miniature painting depicts a caparisoned brown horse in profile, rendered in the Rajput or Company school tradition. The horse is decorated with tack including a saddle with a red and green patterned cloth, a central circular green floral medallion, and multiple hanging blue and brown tassels. The figure is set against a light ground with stylized floral sprigs. The central image is framed by a repeating border of multicolored flower blossoms. The artwork is mounted behind glass with a red mat and housed in a gold-toned wooden frame. The reverse is finished with a brown backing board and a white hanging string.
