Lot 231:
Description
Three 17th century silk and metallic thread orphreys. Each panel is constructed from silk with supplemental metallic-gilt threads using a brocade weaving technique. The decoration features a central field of repeating blossoms in shades of peach, cream, and green, punctuated by stylized blue-outlined floral motifs. These central fields are flanked by narrow coordinating floral borders. Each individual panel is mounted on a contemporary dark-toned fabric-covered board for stability and display.
