Description
A MARITIME SEASCAPE OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING, SIGNED FAIVRE
This maritime scene is an oil on canvas painting depicting a single-masted sailing vessel with red and white sails. The vessel is shown navigating green-toned choppy waters near a cliffside. A French tricolor flag is visible at the top of the mast, with distant sails appearing on the horizon under a pale, cloudy sky. The work is executed in an impressionistic style and is signed FAIVRE in the lower left corner. The painting is housed in a heavily molded giltwood frame decorated with foliate and scroll motifs. The reverse of the work shows the canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher with the handwritten number 9822 and a visible hanging wire.
