A CHINESE HORSE AND GROOM PAINTING AFTER HAN GAN, 19TH CENTURY
This Chinese School painting, executed in the 19th century after the style of the Tang dynasty artist Han Gan, depicts a male figure on a white horse. The figure is rendered with a mustache and a small beard, dressed in a light-colored long-sleeved robe, green trousers, and brown boots. He wears a green cap and holds a whip in his right hand. The white horse is shown in profile, walking toward the right, with simple dark tack. The artwork is executed in ink and color on a textured, golden-brown ground, which appears to be paper or silk. The piece is mounted on a rectangular support with a brown fiberboard backing. No signatures, seals, or inscriptions are visible on the work.
