Description
An 18th or 19th-century illuminated Ottoman Quran manuscript featuring a colophon identifying the scribe as Mustafa al-Hafiz, known as Yemen-zade. The manuscript is housed in a brown leather binding with stamped and gilded central medallions, corner motifs, and border panels. The interior opens with elaborate carpet pages decorated in gold leaf, blue, and red with floral and scrollwork patterns. The text is written in black Naskh script within gold-ruled borders. Surah headings are presented in illuminated panels, and the margins contain colorful shamsas marking various divisions.
