Description

This devotional plaque is constructed of multiple mother-of-pearl tiles applied to a shaped wooden substrate. The central recessed panel features a low-relief carving of St. Joseph holding the Christ Child, set within an engraved celestial scene depicting the Holy Spirit as a dove and various cherubic figures. The surrounding frame is decorated with floral scrolls, geometric patterns, and corner vignettes depicting saints. The top crest features an engraving of the Virgin Mary in glory. A Jerusalem cross is engraved at the lower border, indicating a Holy Land origin, specifically Bethlehem. The reverse of the wooden substrate is finished in a dark red-brown color and retains a metal hanging loop and a small paper lot tag numbered 87.
