Description
A LARGE CALLIGRAPHIC COMPOSITION IN NASTA’LIQ AND GHUBARI SCRIPT, NEAR EAST, PROBABLY SYRIA, SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY
A framed work of Islamic calligraphic art by Sami Burhan, executed in the technique of micrography. The composition features large Arabic characters formed by thousands of miniature calligraphic scripts. The text translates to verses from Surah Al-Alaq of the Quran. The work is rendered in alternating red, green, and blue ink against a cream-colored ground. The piece is housed in a horizontal dark-toned frame with a gilt inner border and is protected under glass. The reverse of the frame bears a label for The Picture Framer, London.
