Description
A LEBANESE DEVOTIONAL FOLK ART PRINT OF THE PROPHET SOLOMON AND HIS ARMIES
This framed Middle Eastern folk art print from Lebanon depicts the Prophet Solomon (Sulaiman) enthroned and surrounded by a retinue of humans, djinns, and animals. The central figure is haloed and crowned, identified by the Arabic inscriptions above as Prophet of God Solomon and his armies. The composition features various figures in traditional attire, several demonic creatures with horns and tusks, and a lower register containing a collection of animals including an elephant, lion, camel, horse, and serpent. A Hoopoe bird is shown delivering a letter to the king. The work is a devotional poster presented in a black wooden frame with a glass front and a cardboard backing secured with tape and a single metal hanging ring.
