Description

This Qajar-period Persian miniature painting, dated 1282 AH (circa 1865 AD), depicts a central figure, identified as Imam Ali, seated in a devotional posture with a golden mandorla. The central figure is flanked by a dervish wearing a tall hat and holding a ceremonial battle-axe known as a tabarzin, and an elderly bearded man in traditional robes. Three angels are positioned in the upper section of the painting. The foreground includes two blue vases with pink floral arrangements. The composition is bordered by calligraphic panels containing religious inscriptions in Naskh script, including the phrase La fata illa Ali. The work is signed and dated in the lower-left corner of the inner frame. The painting is housed in a multi-tiered wooden frame with a light green mat.
