Description

This Indian miniature painting is executed in gouache on paper and depicts the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha. The figure is shown with orange skin and multiple arms, seated upon an ornate golden throne. He is flanked by two female attendants holding chauris, or fly-whisks. The scene is set against a green background beneath a decorative trefoil arch and a stylized floral border. Below the throne, two dark animal figures, representing his mouse vahanas, flank a bowl of offerings. The work is mounted on a larger piece of tan-colored cardstock. A printed label on the reverse identifies the item as Ganesh Rajasthan from a previous sale, specifically noting Sale 31318, Contract 80140083, Line 13.
