Description
This Iraqi niello silver jambiya features a hilt and scabbard crafted from a silvery-white metal decorated with characteristic black niello work. The decorative program consists of diamond-shaped panels containing scenes of palm trees, traditional regional architecture, and geometric motifs. The reverse surfaces of both the hilt and scabbard are plain and unadorned. The scabbard is fitted with two circular suspension rings and terminates in a small, upturned decorative finial. The curved, double-edged steel blade displays a matte, oxidized finish consistent with age and use.
