This lot consists of a Kutch gilt-copper hilted steel sword, also known as a shamshir, originating from Western India. The single-edged steel blade features a curve and is decorated with silver floral inlays along the spine near the hilt. The hilt is constructed from gilt-copper and is decorated with chased and embossed foliate and floral patterns. The hilt assembly includes a cross-shaped guard and a rounded pommel with a small aperture. The matching scabbard is entirely encased in gilt-copper and features repousse and chased decoration throughout, including floral motifs, scrolls, and animal figures in relief situated near the two suspension rings.
