An elegant Arabic manuscript titled Kitab Qawaid al-I’rab (“The Book of the Rules of Arabic Grammar”). This beautifully written work covers the foundational principles of Arabic syntax and grammar. It is written in black and red ink within gold-ruled borders and opens with an illuminated frontispiece. According to the colophon, the manuscript was completed by Muhammad Kamal al-Din in 1229 AH (1814-1815 CE). A fine example of 19th-century Arabic linguistic scholarship and Ottoman manuscript art.
