Description

This elegant 19th-century Saudi Arabian saif features a long, deeply curved steel blade showing an attractive aged patina with light wear consistent with age and use. The hilt is fitted with a distinctive zoomorphic pommel in the form of a stylized animal head, finely decorated and retaining traces of its original detailing. The crossguard is of traditional form, with rounded terminals and subtle silver embellishment.

The sword is accompanied by its original scabbard, crafted from leather over wood and mounted with ornate silver fittings. The upper and lower mounts are decorated with intricate repoussé and engraved motifs typical of Arabian craftsmanship, while the suspension rings remain intact. Areas of loss and wear to the leather and sections of the lower scabbard reflect its age but do not detract from its authenticity or display presence.
