Description

A finely painted Persian miniature depicting a dynamic battle scene, richly detailed and executed in vibrant pigments with touches of gold. The composition is densely populated with mounted warriors engaged in combat, their garments rendered in bold blues, reds, and greens characteristic of late Safavid and early Qajar artistic traditions. The figures’ expressive faces, finely patterned textiles, and carefully articulated weaponry reflect the high quality of the workshop.

The scene is framed within ruled borders highlighted with gold, set against a cream-colored mount showing areas of age-related toning and spotting. Above and below the painting are two lines of elegant Persian calligraphy in black ink on a cream ground.

The reverse bears additional text in two columns of neat nastaʿlīq script, visible within an older backing support. The sheet shows expected signs of age, including foxing, minor wear, and old mounting tape around the edges.

A lively and engaging example of Persian manuscript art from the transitional period between Safavid and Qajar rule, combining dramatic narrative with refined technique.
