Description

A finely worked Egyptian Revival textile panel, likely produced as a Grand Tour souvenir in the 19th century. The composition features a procession of seated and standing figures rendered in appliqué and embroidered details, echoing the stylized poses, garments, and attributes of ancient Egyptian art. The figures hold traditional symbols and staffs, arranged in a continuous frieze that evokes the narrative registers of Pharaonic wall paintings.

Executed on a woven linen ground in warm, earthy tones of ochre, umber, and red, the textile displays careful hand-stitching and layered appliqué techniques. The reverse shows evidence of early stitching and period construction, consistent with 19th-century workshop production for the European Grand Tour market.
