Description

A monumental Ottoman textile panel richly embroidered in silver metal thread on a deep red silk ground, evocative of the grand visual language associated with Kiswa-type ceremonial textiles. The composition is densely worked with large Quranic inscriptions arranged in rectangular and circular cartouches, framed by scrolling foliate motifs, palmettes, and arabesques. A central mihrab-like structure anchors the design, with elegant vertical tassels and radiating vegetal forms enhancing the symmetry and ornamental depth.

The silver thread embroidery is executed in a combination of couching and fine outlining, creating a shimmering contrast against the vibrant red silk. The surrounding border is similarly enriched with intricate panels of calligraphy and stylized foliage. The reverse retains its original backing fabric in soft beige tones, displaying the hand-stitched structure typical of Ottoman workshop production.
