ISLAMIC, INDIAN ART & JEWELS
Lot 310:
Description
A richly embroidered Uzbek Suzani textile, worked in vibrant silk threads on a natural cotton ground. The central medallion—composed of concentric floral forms in red, blue, and yellow—is surrounded by an abundant arrangement of stylized blossoms, leafy branches, and boteh motifs, all executed in bold, saturated colors. The surrounding border continues the rhythmic floral theme, featuring scrolling vines and repeating flowerheads that frame the composition elegantly. The reverse reveals the characteristic long, loose stitchwork typical of traditional Suzani embroidery. Minor creasing and light age-related wear are consistent with its period and add to its authenticity. A striking and decorative example of Central Asian textile artistry, suitable for display as a wall hanging or addition to a textile collection.
