Description

A delicate Ottoman textile worked in soft rose-pink velvet and richly embroidered with metallic thread, likely produced for domestic or ceremonial use in the 19th century. The square panel is decorated with an elegant arrangement of floral motifs: a central lobed medallion enclosing stylised blossoms, surrounded by small scattered floral sprigs and framed by four corner bouquets issuing from ornate vases—an enduring theme in Ottoman decorative arts.

The border is composed of a winding vine pattern embroidered in shimmering gold-tone thread, further enriched with a fringe of metallic trimming along the edges. The reverse is lined in a contrasting bright pink cotton, providing stability and enhancing the textile’s decorative appeal.
