Description

A finely preserved and beautifully illuminated large-format Qur’an manuscript from 19th-century Kashmir. The opening double-page spread is richly adorned with intricate floral and geometric decoration in vibrant blue, gold, and red, showcasing the exceptional artistry of Kashmiri illumination. The text is written in clear black naskh script with red diacritics and verse markers, elegantly framed within red and blue double borders throughout.

The manuscript is bound in its original tooled brown leather binding, featuring an embossed central medallion with cornerpieces and geometric motifs, typical of the period’s refined craftsmanship. The interior pages are on cream-colored paper, each line precisely ruled and harmoniously spaced, reflecting both aesthetic beauty and devotional precision.

This remarkable manuscript exemplifies the distinguished Kashmiri tradition of Qur’anic calligraphy and illumination, making it a highly desirable piece for collectors of Islamic manuscripts and South Asian art.
