Lot 267:
Description
A finely crafted Mughal-style lidded bowl and matching saucer, carved from a rich green hardstone and lavishly ornamented with delicate gold kundan inlay. The bowl features petal-like vertical panels, each decorated with floral sprays composed of gold wire and set with semi-precious stones, including cabochon rubies and seed pearls. The domed lid is similarly embellished and topped with a small finial, echoing the overall flower-bud form.
The accompanying saucer is carved in a scalloped form, also radiating with gold-inlaid floral motifs that complement the decoration on the bowl. The surface retains a smooth polish, allowing the verdant hue of the stone to contrast beautifully with the warm gold and vibrant gemstones.saucer 11.6cm. diameter. bowl and saucer 7.5cm. high (2)
