Description

A finely executed Qajar period portrait of a Persian minister, rendered in watercolour and gouache on paper. The sitter is depicted wearing a richly patterned red robe adorned with decorations and medals, and a traditional black cap, set against a plain circular background. The artist’s attention to detail is evident in the delicate rendering of the textiles, facial features, and jeweled embellishments, hallmarks of late Qajar court portraiture.

Mounted under glass within a gilt mat and an ornate gold-toned wooden frame. The work exemplifies the refinement and realism characteristic of Persian portraiture during the 19th century.
