Description

A rare and historically important set of three hand-tinted photographic portraits mounted on plaques, each depicting members of the Qajar royal family and military elite. The portraits are framed by richly colored turquoise and green borders, delicately inscribed in Persian with royal titles and invocations, and adorned with the Qajar imperial emblem of the lion and sun.

The reverse of each plaque bears impressed or stamped seals featuring the same lion-and-sun motif, confirming their royal or official provenance. These photographs capture the grandeur and self-image of Qajar Iran during a period of modernization and expanding photographic culture at the Persian court, likely associated with the reign of Naser al-Din Shah or Mozaffar al-Din Shah.
