Description

A fine Persian lacquered papier-mâché panel depicting an elegant courtyard scene in the Qajar style. The composition features three figures engaged in conversation before a richly patterned architectural backdrop, framed by blossoming trees and intricate floral ornamentation. The figures are dressed in brightly colored robes typical of 19th-century Persian courtly fashion, executed in delicate gilt and polychrome pigments beneath a lacquered finish.

The border is decorated with stylized floral sprays on a dark ground, exemplifying the refined decorative sensibilities of Persian lacquer painting during the Qajar period. Originally part of a mirror case, bookbinding, or box panel, this piece demonstrates both artistic finesse and narrative charm.
