Description

An impressive and highly decorative Kutahya pottery tile panel, composed of 24 individually painted tiles, vividly illustrating the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. The panel features a detailed schematic view of the Masjid al-Haram with the Ka‘bah at its centre, and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina topped by the iconic green dome. Surrounding the central scenes are finely rendered architectural elements, minarets, mountains, trees, and Qur’anic inscriptions, all executed in vibrant glazes of cobalt, turquoise, green, and sienna over a white ground.
