Description

A finely engraved with concentric astronomical scales and inscriptions in Devanagari script. The instrument comprises a mater with ornate throne and suspension ring, several engraved tympans for different latitudes, a delicately cut rete with star pointers, and a rule and alidade. The reverse bears further grids, inscriptions, and numerals, including yantra-like diagrams, illustrating the blending of Islamic scientific tradition with Hindu astronomical practice in South India.
