ISLAMIC, INDIAN & ANCIENT ART
Lot 54:
Description
Of globular form on three foliate feet, the teapot is crafted from silver and richly decorated in repoussé and engraving. The rounded body is encircled with a lively procession of dancers and musicians in high relief, each figure animated with raised arms and expressive gestures, framed by swirling vegetal scrolls. The long, curved spout and ribbed handle echo the organic motifs, while the hinged domed lid is decorated with a dense pattern of radiating bosses, surmounted by a bud finial.
