Description
The hemispherical helmet surmounted by a tall central spike and fitted with plume-holders, its surface finely chiselled with arabesques arranged in a lattice of gold-damascened strapwork. A broad band encircling the base is inscribed in elegant naskh, enriched with further scrolling tendrils, the rim fitted with a mail aventail for additional protection. The matching circular shield, with four pronounced bosses, is similarly decorated with interlacing arabesques inlaid in gold against a dark steel ground, the central field framed by calligraphic cartouches in reserved medallions.
