Lot 173:
Description
A finely painted in opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the composition depicts a grand palatial scene animated with numerous courtly figures. The setting unfolds within a white marble palace adorned with cusped arches, domed pavilions, and latticed balconies, its terraces filled with attendants, musicians, and noblemen engaged in lively interaction. At the centre, a richly attired ruler is enthroned beneath a golden canopy, surrounded by courtiers in vibrant garments of red, green, and ochre, their jewelled turbans and ornaments rendered with exquisite detail. The foreground is animated by a procession of courtiers and attendants, some bearing gifts and vessels, others gesturing in dialogue, arranged around a central stepped fountain that anchors the composition. The palace opens onto a lush landscape of trees and a wide expanse of water, dotted with boats and birds in flight, framed by distant ochre hills that create depth and spatial grandeur.
