Description
Of rectangular form with scalloped edges, the exterior veneered in richly mottled tortoiseshell. The hinged lid and sides are applied with repoussé and pierced silver mounts, including floral cornerpieces, lion masks, and decorative clasps. A silver elephant appliqué adorns the lid with sapphire eyes, serving as a central motif. The interior is plain, showing the natural translucency of the material.
