ISLAMIC, INDIAN & ANCIENT ART
Lot 157:
Description
Of square form, the surface is arranged as a chequerboard of alternating red-brown and turquoise-blue squares, each individually decorated with finely tooled arabesque or floral designs. The turquoise panels are overlaid with scrolling foliate motifs and rosettes, while the darker squares bear interlacing geometric patterns, creating a striking chromatic contrast. The grid is outlined with delicate gilt tracery, lending definition and refinement to the design.
