An 18th-century Mamluk-style textile panel featuring Quranic calligraphy. The panel is long and narrow, with intricate golden embroidery on a brown fabric base. The inscription, written in traditional Arabic calligraphy, includes the phrase:
“الحمد لله رب العالمين الرحمن”
(“Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, the Most Merciful”)
This phrase comes from Surah Al-Fatiha (1:1-2), the opening chapter of the Quran, emphasizing praise, divine sovereignty, and mercy.
