Description

A delightful and rare set of fifteen molded glass gaming pieces from Mughal India, dating to the 18th century. These pieces are masterfully crafted in translucent and opaque coloured glass — including vibrant shades of cobalt blue, emerald green, ruby red, and clear crystal — and exhibit a vertically ribbed domed form, reminiscent of stylised turban finials or architectural motifs from the period.

Each piece is individually molded, with minor variations that reflect the handmade process, and was likely part of a luxury gaming set used for chess, pachisi, or another courtly pastime favored by the Mughal elite. Their refined form and brilliant jewel-tone palette highlight the aesthetic sophistication and technical skill of Mughal glassmakers.
