A RARE MAMLUK "VENETO-SARACENIC" CANDLESTICK, SYRIA, LATE 15TH CENTURY
Description
The straight stem with tapering mouth rising from a truncated conical body with flat shoulders, the engraved decoration with cartouches of tightly interlocking straps and knots, interspersed with radiating quatrefoils within roundels on a dense foliated ground between two bands of scrolling tendrils.
