A rare and finely moulded Qajar pottery tile, underglaze-painted in vibrant cobalt blue, emerald green, turquoise, manganese, and black, depicting two legendary female warriors from Persian epic literature. One figure is identified as Gisu Banu, the daughter of Rustam, and the other as Banu Zabul, daughter of Zal. Both are portrayed richly attired, seated in a lush, garden before a palatial backdrop with three inscription-filled cartouches above.
Signed in Persian: ‘Amal-e ustad Reza (the work of Master Reza), a known master ceramicist of the period.
