A rare and visually captivating Islamic scientific manuscript, this work is a commentary on the use and construction of the astrolabe by Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Iskandarani. Completed in 1289 Hijri / 1872 CE.

The manuscript is bound in a black leather boards with striking red leather spine and corners. The interior reveals fine naskh script, copied in black and red ink across cream-toned laid paper. Headings and keywords are highlighted in red.

Throughout the manuscript are precisely drawn astronomical diagrams, including astrolabe plates, circular mathematical charts, and celestial calculations, executed in bold red and black ink. These diagrams elegantly blend function and form.
