A LARGE ILLUMINATED QURANIC PAGE, PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY
Description
Illuminated with deep lapis blue panels filled with scrolling gilded arabesques and interlaced floral designs, framing blocks of Qur’anic script in white and gold. The margins are further adorned with lush gold floral sprays and fine marginal rulings.
The reverse displays a single-page composition, with the text in a horizontal registers separated by decorated bands. The margins are enriched with geometric and floral medallions, including a radiant eight-pointed starburst motif rendered in gold, red, and lapis.
