Description
This elegant gouache painting on paper features a seated portrait of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar (r. 1848–1896), the longest-reigning monarch of the Qajar dynasty. The Shah is depicted in full regalia, dressed in a dark ceremonial coat with red piping and adorned with jewelled decorations, including a prominent aigrette and enamelled belt clasp. Seated on an ornately carved wooden chair with plush red tassels. The work is signed by Musavvir al-Mulk and dated.
