Lot 340:
Description
Antique Kazak rug from the Caucuses. This piece has a lot going on in it, as you would expect from tribal/ village oriental rugs. A beautiful blue background is decorated with a row of five medallions having two flower heads at each end. The filed is scattered with small flowerhead motifs and clusters of eight paisley motifs. The geometric cream border gives the rug a certain life of its own. There are some small areas of repair. Otherwise, it has low even pile.
